One of the blogs I like to read is found at personalcaretruth.com. Today's post from Robert Tisserand, a long-time leader in the aromatherapy industry, tackles some common misconceptions about lavender essential oil. When you read Robert's article, it's impressive to see the many different references of clinical research published on lavender oil. While essential oils, herbs and other natural substances have been used for centuries, both for cosmetic and therapeutic treatments, it is exciting to see how much scientific research exists today regarding their benefits.
The research cited in Robert's blog indicates there are many benefits of lavender essential oil, including wound healing, supression of bacterial or fungal growth, healing of burns and protection against photo-aging. With this broad spectrum activity, plus aromatherapeutic benefits to boot, it's no wonder lavender oil is one of the most common essential oils used today in natural and organic cosmetics.
