Recently, I was speaking with a couple of women who share the same passion that I have for natural & organic beauty and healthy living. Our conversation quickly became a creative explosion of ideas about how to bring our message to people....when one of the women pointed out the obvious. "Big ideas are awesome, and I'm full of them, but I have learned that sometimes you just need to get started."
It got me thinking...
Do big ideas sometimes get in the way of getting something started? For example, I know people who want to start running, but somehow setting their sights on a 5K isn't good enough...if they're going to start running, the goal needs to be something big -like a marathon! Why do we think like this? Why aren't accomplishments, big or small, celebrated with the same amount of enthusiasm? Aren't small accomplishments just part of the process to reach your big goal, anyway?
I think sometimes with big ideas (or big goals), we just don't know where, or how, to start. And, perhaps our fear of not being able to turn that big dream a reality holds us back from getting started. Like getting into an ice cold lake or swimming pool. You have two options: 1. Have no fear and jump right in, or 2. start slowly, big toe first, then foot, then ankle...until you are fully submerged.
Is your big idea holding you back from getting started? As we near the beginning of a new year, why not resolve to make your dreams a reality -whether that's jumping in head first or just dipping your big toe in the water. Either way, you're making more progress than walking away and waiting another day.
